In 1983 the founder, J. Simpson, had a company that installed fabric on walls and was researching the best way to protect his customers' new wallcoverings from damage from hand oils, food splatters and general soil. During Jims research he discovered that other "fabric and carpet protectors" had quick wear off issues and were sold mainly to protect the furniture or carpet retailer from service claims before the carpet or fabric were placed in the home.
While looking for a better product, he contacted everyone and found that the Du Pont company was releasing a new product just for protecting fabric that worked better than anything else on the market at the time. It was a Teflon product that was fast drying and was also available to protect carpet and area rugs...even wool.
Jim tested the product on his own on job site after job site and it worked so well, he decided he would apply the protector in his customers homes and businesses and offer a limited warranty so that when his customers had spots, they had someone to call, and FiberGuard was born. Now FiberGuard has added the EarthAware Limited Warranty, all designed to help you get out those emergency spots and spills without having to pay for help every time.
Recently and thoroughly cleaned existing furnishings and carpets can be protected and fine wool and oriental rugs need cleaning and protection also, so FiberGuard also included cleaning services and put equipment and safe chemicals to provide those special services on their trucks and began cleaning drapes also.
Now, almost 25 years later, FiberGuard has thousands of customers, some of whom have had FiberGuard in their homes and businesses for more than 20 years, and some have used FiberGuard for cleaning, spots and spills and protecting their beautiful homes more than 75 times!
